Overview

Team profile

Japan

The
team Japan must gain many precious experience in the Men’s World
 Championship
U.21 in Czech Republic 2017..

And
it could bring up young players who look forward to the 2020 Olympic Games in
Tokyo.

Recently
even Asia men’s performance quality goes well like Iranian Senior team. New
powers from other countries also come up to the courts in Asia. We can see this
phenomenon would parallel its economic heat-up there.

Japan
had been one of leader of both economy and sports. And now is eager to be
center of Asia Volleyball back again.

Japan have a long and successful Volleyball
history. The association was established in Japan in 1927, and they joined the
FIVB in 1951. Japan have been one of the strongest sides in Asia for long time
by winning the continental crown seven times. They took part in the World
Championship for the first time in 1960, kick-starting two decades of success.
They won bronze medal at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games and silver one at Mexico
1968 before taking gold one at Munich 1972. But the subsequent decades have
proved less fruitful and they missed three successive Olympic Games before
returning to the stage at Beijing 2008, where they failed to win a match.

Sorry
to say, after 2008, we lost sequentially 2 qualifications for the Olympic games
until last year, Rio De Janeiro.

However
this team has great potential to flourish in near future aim to 2020 Olympic
game in Tokyo, Japan. Some members would participate it.

Because
now we are going to improve these younger categories under a new president of
our men’s national team commission, Mr.Yajima from now on.

His
strong leadership would lead us to good success with his innovation and would
also lead potential players into the advanced level in senior for the Olympic Games
in 2020, Tokyo.

 This team has good
potential especially in physical aspect. Because not a few players have close
to 200cm height. I surely think this situation might be for the first time in
Japan men’s volleyball history.

 Mr.Tokunaga who has many
experience as head coach internationally has been appointed top management
again by Mr.Yajima. Their combination to communicate is well by graduated academic
tie.

 We
know it would be worth performing well in the games.

We hope our young talents would bring us a big
breakthrough at this event in Czech.
