České Budějovice, Czech Republic, June 24, 2017 – First match of the second day in the Budvar Arena in České Budějovice started off with a thrilling match, filled with drama. Iran celebrated their second win this tournament with a 3:2 win against Ukraine 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13.
Looking at the points both teams scored, it was a close match. Both teams performed nearly equal on their attacks 48% - 49% in Iran‘s favour. The score on blocks don’t show a major difference either, Iran with 12 and Ukraine with 13.
The first two sets proved to be very close for the both teams with Ukraine performing slighty better on their blocks. However, it was Iran who closed the second set with smooth attacks.
A perfect show was put on during the third set for the Ukranian fans as they improved their attacking skills and closed the set 23-25.
With a tie-break as a result, Ukraine worked together as a team and thanks to a strong word by their coach, they improved their team play.
During the last set, both teams started from scratch to earn their points. With Ukraine not making the most out of the side-out, it was Iran who snatched the victory from Ukraine.
