In fifth set we found the energy to win - Kochanowski

Kochanowski greets the Polish fans after the match

Brno, Czech Republic, July 1, 2017 – It was a tough roller-coaster semifinal match between Poland and Brazil at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship in Brno. Poland won in the tie-breaker and this is what the coaches and players said after the game:

Sebastian Pawlik, coach of Poland: “It was a hard game. The Brazilian team played very well today. In the last set we improved our blocking and reception and that is why we won.”

Jakub Kochanowski, captain of Poland: “Today’s result is a step we had to make before the last step tomorrow. The first two sets were great. If we had played like this the entire match, it would have been 3-0. But we started to play worse and worse during the match and fortunately in the fifth set we found the energy that we had at the beginning of the match and we won.”

Nery Pereira Tambeiro Junior, coach of Brazil: “Poland are a very good team. The game was decided in a tie-breaker. We made many mistakes when the set began, above with the float serves of the Polish middle blocker. Poland had their goal and they used their opportunity. We lost against great team.”

Felipe Moreira Roque, player of Brazil: “We made a lot of mistakes. The sets were close, but in the endings we made more mistakes.”
