Host City: Brno
The Czech Republic is hosting an FIVB age-group World Championship for the third time. On the previous two occasions the tournament took place in Brno, the country’s second largest city with a population of 370,000.
In 1991 the city played host to the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship, with the USSR claiming gold. Twenty-two years on the city welcomed the tournament back when the Chinese women’s U20 side beat their Japanese rivals in the 2013 final.
Volejbal Brno is the city’s leading men’s team and they compete in the Czech Volleyball Premier League, where second place in 2003-04 was their best result in recent years.
Host Venue: DRFG (Rondo) Arena
DRFG Arena is the largest multi-purpose arena in Brno. Opened in 1982, it underwent renovation works in 2010. This modern facility hosts hockey games, concerts, seminar as well as various sports competitions.
