Michele Totire was born in Bari on February 12, 1976. He debuted in the A2 division in 2005 with Prisma Taranta as assistant coach, a role that he kept until the next season after being promoted to the A1 division. In 2007, he was appointed as coach of Taranto. The following season, he moved to the bench of Forli as assistant coach then became coach again of Canadiens Mantova from 2009 to 2011. In 2011, he joined the Club Italia and the Italian junior team. As assistant coach of the junior team, he won the European Championship in 2012. In the club level, he led Sidigas Avellino to victory in the A2 division in the 2012/2013 season. He ended the season as coach of Caffe Aiello Corigliano and then later on was appointed as coach of the Azzurrini and of the Club Italia in the B1 division, which he led brilliantly to the playoffs.
From 2013 until 2017, Michele was Head Coach of Club Italia - A2 Championsip and Under 21 / Under 23 Men's Teams. In the 2015 Bronze Medal in WC Under 23 in Dubai
