Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 27, 2017 – With no wins thus far for Ukraine in this FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship they had their focus on this match with Turkey in Pool H.
Turkey, with one previous win this tournament managed to even out the score during the first half of the first set. However it was Ukraine who managed to overpower the Turks by 19-25. Ukraine was playing a solid first set with Oleh Plotnytskyi playing as the main power of his team by scoring 7 points in the first set while Turkey couldn’t find pace.
With Ukraine taking the lead early in the second set, Turkey had their eyes on this one and managed a two-point advantage 16-14. They took their point advantage even further as Ukraine experienced some serious issues on their receiving side and Turkey claimed the second set 25-20.
A solid battle was put on show during the third set with even scores throughout the early stage. With a couple of strong spikes, Turkey advanced 17-8 and eventually closed the set 25-17.
It was all or nothing for this match for the team from Ukraine. They managed to even out the score early in the set 9-9 and 10-10. With some serious gaps in their defence, the Turks scored easily with a 25-20 result and won the match 3-1.
