Poland’s Kochanowski is U21 World Championship MVP

Brno, Czech Republic, July 2, 2017 – The captain of Poland’s national team that won the gold medal at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship Czech Republic 2017, Jakub Kochanowski, was honoured as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament that took place over eight competition days in Brno and Ceske Budejovice. 


Kochanowski has been the leader of this team over the incredible run these young Polish players have had together within the past four years and crowns his contribution to this success with MVP award in Brno.

“Today we did what we wanted to do. All the time we thought only about this gold medal and I am so happy for it,” Kochanowski commented after his team’s big victory. “Personally, I am really satisfied that I could share all our great results with this team and help win all these trophies. It was all like a dream! My own performance here was satisfactory for me. I would like to play like this in all the matches in the future. For me, the most important thing is to stay focused on playing. I really enjoyed this championship so much!”


During a glamorous and spectacular awarding ceremony after the final match the Dream Team of the U21 World Championship consisting of the best players in each position was also announced:

Setter: Lukasz Kozub (POL)
Opposite: Miguel David Gutierrez (CUB)
Outside Spikers: Bartosz Kwolek (POL), Anton Semyshev (RUS)
Middle Blockers: Aleksei Kononov (RUS), Jose Israel Masso (CUB)
